Christmas Safety Tips from Banks County EMA & E911

Remember Christmas Tree Safety. Follow these tips:
1. Choose a fresh tree, if using a live tree. Once it dries out, tale it down and prepare to dispose of it.
2. Keep those live trees watered.
3. Don’t pinch or choke the electrical cord.
4. Make sure you get the right lights that won’t get too hot for a live tree. Also, if you are using an artificial tree make sure your lights are proper for it.
5. Turn off the lights when you leave and when you go to bed.
6. Remember to watch for fire hazards, choking hazards and fall hazards whether it is a live or artificial tree!
7. Always keep a fire extinguisher handy.
Be safe and have a very merry Christmas!

Have a safe and happy holiday season!
