Chestatee High School Teacher Arrested on Rape and Child Molestation Charges in Banks County

BANKS COUNTY, Ga. – The Hall County School District confirmed Friday afternoon that a Chestatee High School Spanish teacher arrested last week on rape and child molestation charges in Banks County is no longer employed by the district.

Felipe Esteban Nunez, 32, of Gainesville, had been employed at Chestatee High School since September 2024.

He was arrested Friday, Feb. 13, by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office in connection with alleged crimes that reportedly occurred in Banks County between 2018 and 2019.

In a statement issued at noon Thursday, Feb. 19, the sheriff’s office said the charges stem from allegations involving a juvenile relative of Nunez.

At the time of his arrest, Nunez was serving as a Spanish teacher and junior varsity boys soccer coach at Chestatee High School.

According to the school district, officials were notified of the allegations shortly after 9 a.m. on Feb. 13 and immediately placed him on administrative leave.

District officials stated there is no evidence at this time that Hall County students were involved in the case.

As of Thursday at noon, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing. No additional details about the allegations have been released.
