Homer Holds Cruising With Autism Car Show

BANKS CO. – Saturday, May 21, saw the streets of Homer and adjacent parking lots filled to the brim with classic, unique, and custom local vehicles for the Cruising With Autism Car Show. The free event was a unique opportunity to see hotrods and muscle cars and appreciate the hard work and talent that went into them.

Not only that, it was a fund raising event with games, food, a cake auction, $1 raffle prizes, and a grand prize.  The price to enter a vehicle was $10.  All proceeds went to Joshua’s Voice, a non-profit with the goal of raising awareness and support for victims of invisible disabilities, such as autism.

Joshua’s Voice are using the proceeds of the event to help provide tools, kits, and knowledge to first responders to aid them when dealing with invisible disabilities.

There were a few vendors, selling trinkets, shirts, and other merchandise for visitors in Veteran’s Memorial Park.  The food stand was selling deserts, sandwiches, drinks, etc.  The distinctive smell of southern-style boiled peanuts filled the air as well.
